Scope and Content Note

Materials in this collection consist primarily of Franklin Cornell’s milk score books documenting his deliveries as a milkman to Dartmouth and New Bedford during the years 1901 to 1906. Cornell organized his books chronologically by year with each page containing a client’s name and the amount of milk delivered. In addition to his milk score books, Cornell’s papers also contain records related to Anthony Howland of Anthony Howland and Son, a grocer operating out of 141 Fourth Street in New Bedford. Anthony Howland and Son’s account book, bills, and receipts date from 1884 to 1894 and include documentation related to grocery deliveries made to various New Bedford households and clients.
