Moby-Dick Marathon 2025

January 3, 2025 - January 5, 2025

One of the world’s best known live readings of Herman Melville’s iconic American novel Moby-Dick takes place every January at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. The Moby-Dick Marathon draws readers and enthusiasts from around the globe to the Museum’s campus and to viewing online.

Join us for a date night or night out with friends at the Whaling Museum, tailormade for grownups! Our 21+ after-hours First Fridays feature fun entertainment amongst fine art collections and artifacts, complete with signature cocktails or mocktails and delicious complimentary lite bites.

Join informal conversations with experts, aficionados, librarians, archivists, curators, historic preservation specialists, historians, and collectors. Topics run the gamut from commercial fishing to historic houses, to the latest acquisitions, collections, or publications. Each moderated conversation is roughly an hour long.

This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies of Brown University with support from FLAD – Luso-American Foundation, of Lisbon.

AHA! (Art, History, Architecture) provides a free platform for New Bedford’s creative community to showcase their talents collectively; making arts, culture, and creative expression accessible to all.

The Sailors’ Series illustrated lectures present a wide variety of experiences and adventures by individuals with lifelong commitments to sailing, boats, and the sea.
