Explore the exhibit Lighting the Way: SouthCoast Women's Lives, Labors, and Loves. Event admission includes Lagoda Below Deck, craft activities, and other stations around the museum focused on the role of women in whaling, textile industries, and the local community.
Discounted general admission rate of $10.00 for youth (ages 4-18) and $12.00 for adults. Children under 3 are free.
Add tickets for the 3D Movie for $4.00 per person. Turtle Odyssey is a 25-minute 3D Movie with showings at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, and 2:30 pm.
All are welcome; families, Scout troops, and youth groups are encouraged to attend.
Schedule of Activities
🔹 Women’s History Scavenger Hunt - Explore the Museum using the Women’s History Audio Tour and a special activity guide to find stories of women in history throughout the galleries. 10:00 am-2:00 pm (Start at Admission Desk, Lobby)
🔹 Make & Take Craft Activity – Make a historic craft inspired by pieces in the Lighting the Way exhibit. 10:00 am-2:00 pm (Whales Today Gallery, Lower Level)
🔹 Gallery Tours – Join a brief gallery tour of Lighting the Way: SouthCoast Women’s Lives, Labors, Loves, designed for all ages. Tours start on the hour at 10:00 am; 11:00 am; 12:00 pm; 1:00 pm (Meet at gallery entrance, Lower Level)
🔹 Lagoda below Deck – Learn about lives of women on whaling ships and go below deck. 10:30-11:30 am; 12:30-1:30 pm (Lagoda Whaling Ship, Main Level)
🔹 Whaling Logbooks – Some women and girls kept logbooks to record their experiences on whaling ships. Make a logbook page inspired by their true stories. 10:00 am-2:00 pm (Near the Lagoda Whaling Ship, Main Level)
