A Free Valentine’s Celebration at the Whaling Museum
Celebrate love, friendship, and everything in between with a fun and free Valentine’s program at the New Bedford Whaling Museum! Whether you're sharing the day with a partner, your besties, or flying solo, we've got something for everyone to enjoy.
This Valentine’s celebration is perfect for couples, friends, and everyone who loves love! Bring your favorite people, your sense of fun, and your creativity—we’ll provide the rest.
Highlights of the Evening:
💌 DIY Valentine Station – Get crafty and make a one-of-a-kind card for someone special. All materials provided!
📸 Photo Booth Under the Whales – Snap a memorable picture beneath our iconic whale skeletons with themed props to show off your playful side.
🎶 Music – Enjoy the perfect atmosphere with a curated playlist of love songs, uplifting friendship anthems, and classic sing-along favorites that everyone will enjoy.
🍫 Chocolate Tasting – Indulge in complimentary samples of Dorothy Cox chocolates while learning fun facts about the history of chocolate and romance. Dorothy Cox gift packages will also be for sale.
🎨 Couples & Friends Sketching Session – Join a fun, beginner-friendly sketching workshop where you’ll capture the essence of your partner, friend, or even your favorite Museum artifact.
💌 Poetry in Love – Join us in the Wattles Gallery, amidst the Lighting the Way: SouthCoast Women’s Lives, Labors, Loves exhibition, for an inspiring evening of poetry with Poet, Writer, Author, and Creative, G.G. Cosmos (Gail A. Gonsalves). Immerse yourself in the language of love through her heartfelt affirmations, sweet nothings, and art that celebrate love in all its forms with pop-up readings from Love Jams, Affirmations of Sweet Nothings. Let these words inspire and set the tone for your Valentine’s Day with those you cherish most.

Love Jams, Affirmations of Sweet Nothings is a collaboration between poet G.G. Cosmos and artist LotusArt33. This unique blend of art and words revives the lost language of Sweet Nothings—soft, loving affirmations that capture the essence of love. With a modern twist, Love Jams offers a heartfelt reminder of our need to give and receive love. Keep it close as a daily inspiration to rekindle love in your life.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
LotusArt33 (Tracy Macleod) – A mixed media artist from Scotland, Tracy turned to art three years ago as a way to transform life’s challenges into beauty. For her, art is both meditative and deeply emotional, creating a connection that touches the heart.
G.G. Cosmos (Gail A. Gonsalves) – Poet, writer, and creative from New Bedford, MA, Gail channels her resilient faith and imagination into her work. She is the author of Long Time Comin’ (2023), Just Saying! (2023), and The Space Between Us (2024). Books by the author will be available for purchase in the Museum store.
