Join us on Thursday, November 2 for an enriching evening dedicated to Lusophone culture and heritage, featuring the popular Maria Lawton – Author, Host, and Producer of the award-winning PBS series Maria's Portuguese Table. Dive deep into conversations about Lusophone heritage, Azorean traditions, and the inspirations behind Maria’s award-winning series.
Maria Lawton, also known as the “Azorean Green Bean” due to her strong roots in the Azores and her passion for bringing Azorean culture and cuisine to the mainstream, will engage in a candid question and answer session moderated by Gilbert Perry, who serves on the Whaling Museum’s Board of Trustees and Portuguese Advisory Committee.
Mr. Perry stated, “The New Bedford Whaling Museum has always been a hub for cultural immersion. Having Maria Lawton, a stalwart in promoting Lusophone culture, is highly anticipated. We believe that this evening will be enlightening for all attendees and further strengthen the ties between our museum and the Lusophone community.”
The program will start promptly at 6:00 PM on Zoom and in the museum’s Cook Memorial Theater. For those with in-person program tickets, doors to the museum will open at 5:30 PM. Due to the popular nature of this program, we will only admit guests for this program once all parties are present.
