THE WANDERER'S 100TH ANNIVERSARY!

Saturday, August 24, 2024 and Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Saturday, August 24, 2024 marks 100 years since the last square-rigged whaling ship, the Wanderer, set sail from the Port of New Bedford to go whaling, under US registry. It went aground and was wrecked in a storm the day after setting sail. In recognition of this historical occasion, we invite you to wander the New Bedford Whaling Museum and discover treasured artifacts, ephemera, and artworks inspired by the Wanderer in our collections.

Let us go wandering!  When you arrive at the Whaling Museum ask for The Wanderer flyer at the front desk to participate in a fun contest as you search for Wanderer treasures.
