Born in Co Tipperary Ireland, Aoife Clancy – daughter of the Bobby Clancy of the Clancy Brothers – first met Eddie Dillon in 1999 in Ireland, while he was visiting. In the same year, Aoife was invited to the United States for a two-week tour, with every intention of returning to Ireland. But once she started playing music with Eddie in the United States, she decided to make her home right here in New England, where she remained for 25 years.
Currently residing just outside of Ashville, NC, Aoife will reunite with Eddie “at home” for this rare performance at the museum. Their wit and stage presence along with an eclectic blend of Celtic, Americano, and original material promises to be an evening of entertainment not to be missed.
During their touring days, Aoife and Eddie toured extensively throughout the States performing at Irish Festivals, performing arts centers, and folk clubs, until Aoife was asked to join the acclaimed group Cherish the Ladies out of NY City. With Cherish, she toured over 250 dates a year, and has been a guest performer for the Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops and other symphonies throughout the country. She has several recordings under her belt, one of which was nominated for a Grammy while performing with Cherish the Ladies and the Boston Pops.
Eddie Dillon is a native of Braintree, now resides in Fairhaven MA. His musical career started back in the 70's, performing in folk clubs and festivals throughout the Northeast. With over forty-five years of entertaining audiences primarily in Irish music world, Eddie is the only Irish American to have toured with the Clancy Brothers in the States and Ireland. Having played many years with the Irish folk group, the Shenanigans, Eddie is known for his original compositions as a guitarist and songwriter, with much of his original material recorded by other talented artists like Aoife Clancy, Barleycorn and Seamus Kennedy. He is also a recording engineer with a studio in Fairhaven.
