Buttonwood Park Zoo is a 10 acre zoo feature over 30 exhibits and more

The Schooner Ernestina is the only surviving 19th century Essex- built
Grand Banks fishing schooner and the only surviving sailing
transatlantic packet schooner to carry immigrants to America.

Fire Museum
51 Bedford Street (Corner of Sixth Street), New Bedford
The museum is an authentic fire house and features restored vehicles,
uniforms to try on, bells to ring, and poles to slide down. Old Fire
Station No. 4 was built in 1867 and was possibly the oldest
continuously working fire station in the country until 1979.

Rotch-Jones-Duff House Garden & Museum

Located on a full city block of gardens, this national landmark was
built for whaling merchant William Rotch, Jr. in 1834. Designed by
Richard Upjohn, the House is one of the finest surviving examples of
residential Greek Revival architecture.

Bethel
15 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford
The Seaman's Bethel was immortalized as the "Whaleman's Chapel" by
Herman Melville in his classic novel Moby-Dick. Built between 1831 and
1832, the Bethel continues to this day as a house of prayer and
standing memorial to those New Bedford whalemen, and now fishermen,
who have lost their lives at sea.

Whitfield-Manjiro Friendship Society
The purpose of the society is to provide an organizational framework
within which individuals, institutions, schools, community groups,
industry and commercial organizations, and the public sector will
collaborate in an effective manner to promote and enhance the Sister
City relationship established between Fairhaven/New Bedford and
Tosashimizu, Japan on December 2, 1987.

Working Waterfront
New Bedford is a famous old whaling port continues to earn its living
from the sea. Herman Melville shipped out of this port in 1841; the
experience inspired him to write Moby-Dick. Today, New Bedford is an
authentic seaport city with a large fishing fleet and working
waterfront.
